What are antioxidants?
The antioxidants fight the free radicals that are small-oxygenated molecules, which can be harmful if produced in excess. An increase in free radicals due to pollution, tobacco, alcohol, too much sun exposure, bad eating habits stress or an excessive intake of drugs can cause a degradation of the membranes of the cells. It is this deregulation of the oxygen supply that is responsible for the ageing of the cells. This can result in tiredness, problems with circulation and articulations, premature ageing, problems with the menopause, lipid perturbations etc.
What can be done?
You can give your body a regular supply of antioxidants, mainly to the elderly people, people with bad eating habits and smokers. On top of it there is the need to develop some moderate physical activity and to eat properly.
