Liposomes are vesicles formed from a phospholipid bilayer with an aqueous compartment at its centre. Liposomal encapsulation technology protects the encapsulated product from acid attack in the stomach and enables the product to be delivered directly into the bloodstream, where it can then be transported intact to the cells.
The secret lies in the fact that the product is protected by the liposomal microsphere and only comes out when the sphere comes into contact with the surface of a cell.
